Sheffield are the latest track to announce that their Category One event – the Three Steps To Victory – will go ahead, with identical prize money to 2017, despite the lack of SKY coverage.

The calendar’s only triple distance event, staged over 480m, 500m and 660m, carries a first prize of £10,000. Last year it was staged in April and won by Geelo Sapphire.

GM Dave Perry said: “It will be run on consecutive Tuesdays in August – the 7th, 14th and 21st and will be sponsored by GMG. We will also definitely stage the Steel City Cup though dates and sponsor are still to be confirmed.”

Stadium director John Gilburn revealed that demolition work is shortly to get underway as part of the major stadium renovation.

He said: “We are anticipating planning permission to be granted on July 16, but the Hare And Hounds needs to be demolished anyway, so that will go ahead almost immediately.”
