Sheffield Stadium’s venue director Dave Perry is counting down the days until he takes charge of the track’s brand new conference centre.
The £5.5m investment has a prime slot between the winning line and first bend and includes conference facilities for 500 guests plus four VIP hospitality boxes, each able to take 20 people.
Perry said: “We are due to be handed the keys on November 1. We then have between seven and ten days testing of equipment and actually have our first two bookings before our ‘soft opening’ on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd.
“We will be fully functional from Tuesday 26th, and with the exception of two boxes, we have already sold out all the Saturday bookings leading up to Christmas. We still have some Tuesdays and Fridays available for the boxes, but I am expecting them to sell out very quickly too.
“These are tough times, but there has been significant investment in the stadium, and like Romford, I am sure our new facilities will be welcomed by the greyhound industry.”
