Former local grader Matts Malibu landed the fastest first round heat of the ARC Scurry Gold Cup first round, though his task doesn’t get any easier in the semi finals.
This time last year, Malibu was completing his qualifying trials for Ben Reynolds and made his debut in late October in D2. He progressed to win a string of opens before eventually switching to trainer David Mullins for whom he produced his fastest time over course and distance – 16.03.
He will be joined in next Thursday’s first semi final by kennelmate Shrewd Call and the East Anglian Derby runner-up Bockos Jon Jo.
The second semi features Jon Jo’s brilliant kennelmate Crossfield Dusty, unbeaten in her three Perry Barr races to date and the quickest on the clock in the comptition.
