This year’s Scottish Greyhound Derby is sponsored by the Racing Post and will appear live on Racing Post Greyhound TV.
Worth £20,000 to the winner over Shawfield’s 480m course, the 36 runner event will take on consecutive Saturdays April 11-18-25.
Racing manager Daniel Rankin said: “We were originally clashing with the big ‘Pinpoint’ night at Newcastle so we brought our dates forward. There is a clash with the Arc at Swindon, but that happens every year and I don’t think we have much effect on each other’s entries. There were discussions with SKY but they previously asked us to stage the semis on Fridays, which we did once, but never again.”
The Racing Post Scottish Derby is supported by two 18-runner events – a 480m puppy, and a 500 metre competition, to coincide with the Derby semis and final – each worth £2,000 to the winner. Final night will have a full supporting card.
