With the All England Cup fast approaching (first round Thursday 10th October) there was a star studded trial session taking place this evening at Newcastle. Highlight of the session was undoubtedly Jimmy Fenwick’s Ice On Fire.
Having already highlighted his enormous potential when running out an impressive winner of the Stadium Bookmakers Puppy Classic at Nottingham in August , Fire will be looking to add all aged success to his already impressive CV when he lines up in the forthcoming ‘North East Derby’.
Trainer Fenwick shelved plans to run Fire in the Romford Puppy Cup after his star performer picked up a superficial wound to a shoulder in a paddock accident at home. He showed he is well over that minor set back this evening though when recording a phenomenal 2819 off the back of a flying 449 split.
I spoke with Jimmy Fenwick and he told me “I’m really pleased with his trial tonight. He’s running rails here at Newcastle and if he continues to break in the manner he has tonight he’s got to be a big player in the competition”.
Steve Anderson’s RPGTV Yarmouth Derby semi finalist Bramble Reggie was next fastest recording 2821 whilst Angela Harrison’s Ted Lloyd Classic winning heroine Velvet Juliet stopped the clock in 2825.
