“He couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo” is one of my dad’s favourite expressions for a centre forward who hoofs the ball into row XJ. But after the Las Vegas build-up, the Cahill v Cahill v Williams Hooooooooooove Hyper Challenge, the assembled trio couldn’t have hit an agricultural building with all the instruments in the London Symphony Orchestra. All three will be invited back next Saturday for the return leg of the nil nil nil no score draw.
Where would we be without Carl Perry (or Yarmouth’s Nigel Tanner). Although a £50 win on 11-10 chance Joella Reggie only netted a £5 profit on the night, it was a fourth winning night in a row.
CENTRAL PARK
With another excellent night of open racing at Central Park, we see the return of three local open race trainers. The greatest incentive for Tony Collett and Patrick Janssens is not to get turned over by Rab McNair, who (marginally) did best of the trio last Sunday, and was thoughtful enough to point it out. “You are obviously getting a wee bit confused about the game Tony. You are supposed to be picking out dogs to bet, not dogs to lay.” Fighting talk from a man whose claim to glory last week was losing less than the other two! Review of last Sunday’s meeting
