Sin esperanza (Spanish), hopeloos (Afrikaans), hofnungslos (German), mea tupono (Maori), hopeless (English).
The combined efforts of the Nottingham tipsters on Friday night. Big Mark came closest with a 4-1 photo finish defeat – but even without the ballast of Peter Harnden, they were dire. 3 x £100
The Romford story was just bizarre. Jason Captain Sensible Gander went all-in on a 9-2 chance You Never Forget – and got chinned (-£100). (Lesson never to be forgotten?) Even more bizarre, Mark Wallis had seven runners, only picked two, but none of the septet even made a tricast place. Has that ever happened before? (-£100).
Which leads us to Nathan Hunt. A specialist in getting favourites beaten, he kicked off with Goldies Linekar (7-4 – 2nd), then put the bok on Seaglass Sabrina (7-4 – 2nd), followed by Nans Major (7-4 – 2nd). But then, incredibly Goldies Hoddle 10-11 managed to break the curse. Unfortunately, there with nothing to go with it in his trixie (3 doubles and a treble).
So yes, once again, the man who drove his dog van over Dame Fortune’s black cat – -£100.

Tried to introduce some local opinion tonight starting with Bernard Rogers, a kennelhand with Alan Jenkins who has been following the trialstakes with a keen interest. Then there is a bloke called Hutton – you might have heard of him.

Daddy’s Prince (R11 T2) has taken to six bends really well. I can see him leading from the traps and then hopefully will be able to hold the strong running T6 £50 win

First bet off the night is Courtmac Reggata (R2 T3). Wins A4, upgrade to A3, one run back down, A4 wins again, in a A2 time, and stays in A4. I’ve tried to find how it gets beat but simply can’t find it. Has a chunk in hand on the clock and two from two in the grade. Was running A1 in Cork before coming over so make it a gift from the grader Max bet £50 win
Swift Colossus (R8) is the second selection and very much like first, how this dog is dropped in grade after winning A5 in 29:32 have one run then back into A5 once again? Can only be called ‘a gift from grader’. The only possibe danger would be the six, on old form, but she would need to find that to trouble the selection. Rates as another max bet. £50 win
I’m with Skilful Wonder (R12 T3) who should be a nice price in the last race. Lisa Stephenson’s youngster was impressive in trials and on his recent track debut he was like a rabbit in the headlights. He was slowly away and was never able to land a glove on Dreamy Liamy. That said there was a lot to like about how he finished that night. Admittedly he was well beaten in truth but with that experience under his belt I’ve a feeling he will be a good deal sharper tonight and with lots of early pace in the race he should be competitive for The Sandwood Syndicate who I know think a bit about this lad. £50 win
The second selection is in the nightcap. The Other Rex (R 14 T6) was very impressive last week. It was his first run back from having a rest and he’s also been off lame but he showed on that occasion he was in rude health and a credit to the team at home that have nursed him back to full fitness. He beat his kennel chum Lostrigg Freddy another smart greyhound in a very nice 29.28 and will hopefully kick on now and land a few nice prizes in the coming weeks. Tonight’s assignment isn’t an easy one buts that’s the current strength at Sheffield. Trade Woz (T3) for Joy Andrews is very quick to the first corner and Dreamy Liamy (T5) has already been mentioned. It is not broken, don’t fix it and The Other Rex isn’t currently broken so let’s stick with him. £50 win

My first selection is Swift Colossus (R8 T3). This dog run a great race to win two runs back and hopefully he can get on the bunny to win tonight. £50 win.
My second selection comes in the next race Act Like Jaxz (R9 T3). This bitch run very well in the handicap last week and hopefully again can run a good race. If she get on the bunny early with a slower starter on her inner she should go on to win. £50 win
