SUNDERLAND PUPPY CUP AND BRITISH BRED UPDATE & FINAL DRAWS
Chris Fereday’s No Better Feelin was fastest of the two Puppy Cup semi final winners at Sunderland on Friday evening as he came home alone by 3 1/2 lengths in 2676 (+20). Untold Ruble had been sent off a warm order even money favourite to Tom Heilbron but had to settle for second on this occassion whilst Newinn Souly took the third qualifying spot for Kim Billingham. Great news in that Phil Milner reports that Keefill Rocky appears a little stiff after his first bend tumble but nothing too serious.
Phil Milner saw his Keefill Maverick overcome early crowding to go on for a comfortable 2 1/4 length victory in the second semi final in a time of 2699 (+20). Droopys Extragud put up an eye catching performance in second just 2 1/4 lengths back for trainer Heather Dimmock whilst Slingshot Ali took the third qualifying spot for next weeks £7500 to the winner (£500 others) final (draw below).
The Harry Williams – Blue Artisan British Bred competition got underway at Sunderland last night with just 22 spots separating the three heat winners. Witton Margaret (Jill Sutherst) , Romeo Cypher (David Mullins) and The Bulldog (Paul Lithgow) all qualified for next weeks £1500 final (draw below) courtesy of second place finishes in heats one , two and three respectively.
LONG FELLOW TO GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Matt Dartnall’s Long Fellow loves it around Oxford with no fewer than six race wins to his name around the Cowley circuit. The undoubted highlight for the January 2022 son of Droopys Sydney being when claiming the Cowley Puppy Collar Final late in October last year. Not seen in competitive action since finishing second behind Swift Iconic here in mid March his recent trials suggest all is now well and he can claim division one of the Oxford Standard over 450m at 809pm in typical all the way style.
