The defeat of Razldazl Raidio and the return of Maireads Ivy were the main talking points at CRAYFORD on Saturday.
Following three defeats, Raidio was rated a 2-7f chance to return to the winner’s enclosure at Crayford where he was fastest over both hurdle distances last year. But he narrowly failed (sh) to catch Julie Luckhurst’s Fridays Sean (Kinloch Brae-Fridays Grove, Sep 13) who covered the 380m jumps couse in 23.62.
Derek Knight’s Maireads Ivy (Hondo Black-Winning Impact, Nov 14) had been in supreme form shortly before coming into season in March. After three very respectable graded runs at Hove, she returned to marathon racing on Saturday to land the 874m open in 56.97 (FOY 56.83).
