BELLE VUE featured four opens on their Saturday card and Pat Rosney took two of them.
The star of the night was Newinn Blitz (Kinloch Brae-Any Time Again, Sep 14) in the 590m open. The little brother of Doncaster Leger winner Keplar Nine, and a confirmed Belle Vue specialist, with the fastest 470m time of the year on his card (27.52), made it five in a row at ‘The Zoo’ with a 35.76 (-15) victory.
However the 470m win by kennelmate Expresso Blue (Droopys Scolari-Little Flame, Jun 14) would have been equally satisfying for the Preston kennel. The 28.14 (-10) run was his first victory since February and followed seven months on the sidelines.
The Bapp Scurry starts next weekend and there was a turn-up in the night’s 260m open when 4-7f Roxholme Hat was KO’d at the second bend in a race won by Trapstyle Jet (Droopys Jet-Cairns Risky, May 14) in 15.12.
At PERRY BARR, Painstwon Duke (Superior Product-Fane Chroishna, Mar 15) clocked the third fastest 480 of the year with a 28.20 victory for Corren Price. It was the third open win in five races to date for the 29.13 Drumbo Park winner.
The versatile Sawpit Sunhine (Droopys Scolari-Mohane Katie, Sep 14) continued his impressive recent form when beating Coolavanny Bear in the 660m open. Dave Hunt’s dual distance runner has six wins and two seconds in his last nine races.
James Reynolds, who featured in our piece of owner trainers this week was reminded of the fickle nature of fate when both his runners finished last in their respective opens.
