Towcester stage another fabulous card on Saturday with the semi finals of four major events, but the decision has been made to keep the make the track’s first hurdle race a one-off on final night.
The RPGTV sponsored Supreme Hurdle was originally due to be staged for 24 runners, was reduced to a dozen but has been reduced again on welfare grounds.
Racing Manager Andy Lisemore said: “As everyone knows, the hurdles have only just been reintroduced and we had our first trials last week. But after speaking to Ricky Holloway, he suggested that they might take a bit of getting used to. The last thing we want is dogs getting hurt so we’ve decided to run the event as a one-off and the only entries that will be accepted will be dogs who have trialed here over the jumps.”
