Double ‘Cat 1’ winner Geelo Sapphire has been retired following her elimination from the GMG Oaks at Belle Vue on Saturday.
Trainer Carl Perry said: “It is obvious that she hasn’t fully recovered from a set-back on her trip to Ireland and there is no point continuing if she isn’t at her best.
“She has been an amazing bitch for us, picked up our first Category One race and given us a lot of fun. She is due in season early in the New Year and we plan to have her mated to Droopys Nidge if all goes to plan.”
After qualifying into A3 at Sheffield, the daughter of Ace Hi Rumble and Droopys Raeh won 19 of her 47 races including the £10K finals of the Coors Three Steps To Victory and the Lowther Stakes.
