Droopys Live (T 1-3f), who went unsold at the last Sheffield sale made is six from seven with another stunning run in a £500 final at Nottingham on Monday night.
The winner clocked 28.48 (+30) when leading home Cuba Libre by a length and a half over 480m. Live’s sole defeat was a narrow length and a half third place (Imp 1 Crd 3 Ran on) at Monmore.
Sheffield racing manager Sam Tweed said: “She clocked 29.79 (500) off a very moderate sectional in Brian Harrison’s final auction here for Combined Greyhound Sales. Although she had done enough to be graded straight into A3, nobody wanted her and the owner asked Elaine Parker to take her rather than take her back to Ireland.
“I don’t know how it worked out from there but I do remember her winning her first ever race of her career in A1 here at 19 months old. I can’t remember that ever happening before. She is a fantastic bitch, she traps well, maybe lacks a bit of early pace but has superb middle pace and looks a great stayer in the making.”
