Pat Rosney is cautiously optimistic over the chances of Blissful Scolari in next Wednesday’s Brinkleys Estate Future Champion Stakes Final at Hove.
On Thursday night, the 1-2f maintained his unbeaten run with a three length victory over Droopys Missouri. The winner’s time was 30.00 on going rated -30. That compared with a first round win of 29.76 on normal going. Magical Scotty was a further five lengths back in third.
The other semi final went to the orange jacketed Young Force (Mall Brandy-Droopys Force, Oct 14) who was led up by Droopys Rogue (T2) with 4-6f Guinness Four (T6) very slow into his stride. By the third bend the leader was under pressure as Force made his challenge. He crossed the line in 30.61 (-30) with a length and a bit to spare with Guinness Four a further half length back in third
Draw for the final: 1) Droopys Rogue 2) Young Force-m, 3) Blissful Scolari-m, 4) Magical Scotty-m, 5) Droopys Missouri-w, 6) Guinness Four-w.
Pat Rosney said: “I was thrilled with the run; you would have to be. I was disappointed that he didn’t trap better. We know he can from his trials at Perry Barr. Whether that is due to the change of traps, or simply the fact that he is now racing, with all the noise and other distractions, is anyone’s guess. He is certainly chasing it very strong and staying on well.
“I don’t really have an opinion on the draw, we are still learning about the dog and the other pups. It wouldn’t appear too bad though you wouldn’t really know. But I am a little concerned about final night and all it entails. He can be a little bit ‘spooky’ so I’ll be doing my best to keep the cameras as far away from him as possible.”
