Skywalker Rory ran out an impressive winner of an eventful 2015 Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger over 550 yards at Limerick on Saturday.
Pat Guilfoyle’s runner went to traps a 7-2 chance as all the money was for Owen McKenna’s Offshore Bound and Pat O’Brien’s Peregrine Falcon, who shared favouritism at 2-1.
Offshore Bound had no chance after going up with the traps and Peregrine Falcon was the meat in the sandwich on the run-up as Jaytee Valencia moved off from two.
Graham Holland’s Champion Stakes winner Sidarian Vega led around the first turn, at which point Tyrur Tommy was bumped and pulled up lame.
Skywalker Rory, who was up with the pace followed the leader through and led approaching the third turn, eventually scoring by six lengths in 29.47sec.
Offshore Bound ran on for third.
The victory was another success for Devon solicitor Ray Patterson, whose Derby winner Skywalker Puma was the sire of the winner.
