FILM STAR in 6 showed good determination to win last week off the back of a lightning quick start. He’s the best drawn runner in this field and is capable of quicker than he showed the last day but there’s a few in here I think with a clear run could pick him up. The big caveat with those is who might get the run so it begs the question “Is FILM STAR banker material?”.
BUBBLY BONANZA in 2 is capable but has a rails to middle runner on his inside and doesn’t trap the fastest. TIFFIELD BLUEBOY in 3 also doesn’t trap so well but he’s a dog I rate and this race looks comfortably his easiest assignment in some time. Having been sent off 8/1 & 9/1 on his last two starts respectively, I think we’ll get a fair price when the markets open up but he does look for the rails so that elusive clear run may still not be available.
PIEMANS KING in 4 is another strong running type who might just move in slightly on the run up. He’s run well enough in three trials here to suggest his best may be yet to come
All that said, and this being the opening leg, I think I’d want some cover, but this will be a fascinating race to watch unfold.
Selections – FILM STAR (6), BUBBLY BONANZA (2), TIFFIELD BLUEBOY (3), PIEMANS KING (4)

The girls are at it here and it’s fair to say they’re all a bit sporadic from the boxes so race reading to the opening turn is going to take some luck.
With that in mind PUNK ROLL DOLL in the stripes is the sole wide seed and flew round here in a recent trial. A repeat of that effort would make her hard to beat and being the youngest runner in the field she’s likely to improve further still.
The inside trio are all capable on their day but the preference would come for PLAYBOOK in two who lost little in defeat last week. She does seem to find more than her fair share of trouble but with a clear run she’s the biggest threat to the 6 for me.
Selections – PUNK ROLL DOLL (6), PLAYBOOK (2)
18:43 – 575M
I made the mistake last week of giving NEWINN LIZ very little respect on her first try at this new trip and was left red-faced when she won as she liked. The time wasn’t bad either but this both HOCUS POCUS in 2 and PUNK ROCK MUTLEY in 6 have gone round quicker in recent trials.
It’s an interesting race in the fact 2 will want to be on the front or at least handy yet I’m sure NEWINN LIZ will take them along down the back straight. 6 might be staying on a bit too late unless the formerly mentioned pair come together.
Selections – HOCUS POCUS (2), NEWINN LIZ (5), PUNK ROCK MUTLEY (6)
18:58 – 400M
ADAMANT TAURUS is now middle seeded after a good effort here last week. At one point I thought he was going to pick up FILM STAR but he got a bit lost on where to go by him as they rounded the final turns.
From 4 he should have a better suited run round and I also think he can move quicker into the first bend than he showed that day. BUBBLY YOLO in 1 probably rates the chief threat as he looks nicely drawn and stays this trip well.
Selections – ADAMANT TAURUS (4), BUBBLY YOLO (1)
19:18 – 400M
JESSES SISTER disappointed me last week but her race was lost on the run up. Still, she didn’t show a lot from behind which worries me slightly. That said, I think she has a nice draw in a weaker race and should take some beating if able to dictate matters.
SAMS ELLE in 2 wasn’t great in the early exchanges herself last week but should come on a ton for that racecourse experience and would look to be the biggest danger.
Selections – JESSES SISTER (3), SAMS ELLE (2)
19:36 – 400M
BUBBLY BOLLINGER was always likely to suffer some trouble last week but now drawn in the red jacket makes serious appeal. He’s the fastest runner by some way on his trials but we’d just have to hope TENPIN in 2 doesn’t cause too much interference on the run up as that could ruin both their chances.
QUIVERS MO in 5 moved well in a recent trial and is bound to improve for the run so might be the one to pick up the pieces should the inside pair scupper each other’s chances early on.
Selection – BUBBLY BOLLINGER (1)
19:56 – 575M
ROCKMOUNT OZZY was beaten favourite here last week but now drawn in the coffin box this railer will need even more luck to better that result.
NEWINN CRACKER & BUBBLY DUDLEY in 3 and 2 respectively are the biggest threats on the clock but there could easily be trouble early on in this race. COURTS AD JOSEPH was slack at the lids last week but is capable of better and I could see him running well if able to get round in front off the second bend. SHOOT THE BOLT likes this track and trip but probably isn’t the force of old.
Selections – BUBBLY DUDLEY (2), NEWINN CRACKER (3), ROCKMOUNT OZZY (4), COURTS AD JOSEPH (5)
20:17 – 575M
The theme of run up traffic concerns continues into the final race of the Win 8 where RISING LAVA drawn in 4 is a fast-starting bang railer. Probably not quick enough to land this herself but she’s likely to interfere with DUDLEY EVELYN who has been running well here in the top grade. The race is set up for MAYSTHISTLECRACK in 6 who flew round here in a recent trial and has excellent course form. She’s going to show this younger field how things get done around here.
Selection – MAYSTHISTLECRACK (6)
