David Young (@CheltmentalFB) sets his sights on the Win 8 at Romford on Friday evening, where there is £15,000 up for grabs. Check out his picks and jump into his Colossus Bets Syndicate.
I think SEATTLE SAM in 1 has a really nice draw. He’s clocked 24.29 in a recent trial off a slow enough sectional and is an open race winner over course and distance.
ADAMANT TAURUS in 2 looks to be a potential threat but should keep clear of the rails up to the first bend. His Yarmouth times are steady and he’s only just turned two. The one consideration with him is an earlier trial suggested that he was awkward on the run in so he might cause some issues if he’s not able to dictate.
FILM STAR in 6 is another Yarmouth raider and another who probably wants to lead to win. He has a nice draw as the sole wide side
Selections – SEATTLE SAM (1), ADAMANT TAURUS (2), FILM STAR (6)
18:28 – 400M
Bitches only here and it’s a decent standard.
DROOPYS DIGNITY deserves to be favourite following her win around here last week when clocking 24.08 but she’s drawn inside a fast sprinter who also wants the rails, so there’s every chance the pair could come together.
SAVANA JESSICA in 4 has blistering early pace and I believe is quicker than her hand timed trial suggests, while both 5 and 6 would have chances if they’re able to dictate.
The latter, BURKOS DREAM isn’t always alert at lid rise but might be worth siding with in a race that looks like it could be won and lost on the run up to the first bend.
Selections – DROOPYS DIGNITY (1), SAVANA JESSICA (4), BURKOS DREAM (6)
18:43 – 575M
The first of many races over 6 bends and good old SWIFT TARQUIN will again be on the shortlist. He’s been sloppy at the boxes of last but, if able to show some early zip once more, he’s quick enough to win this.
BUBBLY COUGAR in 2 will likely lead this field and, in doing so, give himself a chance while the outside boxes of 5 and 6 will also need to make the most of the early exchanges if either are to prevail.
SOME DANCER LEXI will struggle to get home while SMILING CHARLIE in 4 has been shaping as though this step up will suit but lacks a look round.
Selections – SWIFT TARQUIN (1), BUBBLY COUGAR (2)
18:58 – 400M
On the clock the entire field are capable of landing this but DRUIDS BRAZONA in 1 is a dog I want to keep onside after stepping up on his recent trial and, still with a sectional, I’m confident he can surpass.
HAVE A BRANDY in 2 can pace to the bend well but hasn’t been doing so recently and BUBBLY BONANZA in 3 is likely to move inwards which I think sets the race up for the red jacket.
That said, SIGNATURE JACK in 5 won well here last week and has a plum draw of his own.
BALLYNABEE JET was another last time out winner here who should also improve for the experience
Selections – DRUIDS BRAZONA (1), SIGNATURE JACK (5), BALLYNABEE JET (6)
19:18 – 575M
The second stayers race of the night and both 2 and 5 won here last week with just .01 splitting their winning times. Both are lightly raced and entitled to improve for those efforts but both would also be doing their best from the front ranks.
SOBER EXPRESS in 1 is only just two years old but has a decent 4 bend trial from back in July around here and has been in fine form at Towcester. This isn’t the easiest of entries but, seeing as he runs from off the pace, you’d think he might end up with more behind him than in front.
KING LENNON in 3 has a similar running style but for me is the quickest runner in the race. Securing a clear passage when I think he’ll turn either 5th or 6th will be easier said than done though.
Selections – SOBER EXPRESS (1), ANOTHER PABLO (2), KING LENNON (3), VIEW KING (5)
19:36 – 400M
NANS MAJOR in the blue jacket ran with credit in defeat last week where a very tardy start put his chances on the backfoot, so I can only see him bettering that sectional.
COURTS AD JOSEPH in the black jacket is always susceptible to a real top-class runner but, in this field, he’s as quick as any and, if he can get on the bunny, he won’t be picked up.
ITSUR MATE hasn’t won since beating SPARTA MASTER over course and distance in early July but is always a force to be reckoned with.
Selections – NANS MAJOR (2), COURTS AD JOSEPH (4), ITSUR MATE (5)
19:56 – 400M
This puppy race looks seriously exciting, with BUBBLY BOLINGER making his racecourse debut following two 23.90’s trials. They both came from slow enough sectionals, which is the one area for concern, but he’s a very quick puppy make no mistake.
GLENGAR HUNTER in 3 is making his British debut and is another who might want the rails. So does 4 who has had just the one start when finishing second to ADAGEO BLUE, who re-opposes here.
ADAGEO BLUE is drawn in 1 and is a very smart dog but I’m just struggling to see how the inside runners are going to avoid each other early on. Both 5 and 6 probably aren’t quick enough to take this so I do still expect the winner to come from either 1 or 2.
Selections – ADAGEO BLUE (1), BUBBLY BOLLINGER (2)
20:17 – 400M
Another race which potentially reads with trouble on the inside again.
GOLDIES HODDLE just keeps winning here but being drawn from 3 worries me greatly. Especially so when he has BALLYNABEE LUCKY on his inside who is an early paced runner himself.
BUBBLY CAIN might just have the best draw of the insiders from the 1 box but he’ll need to be very brave at the first turn.
SIGNATURE CALLUM has beaten GOLDIES HODDLE in a clean run race on his penultimate start so, with his favourite jacket on, there’s every reason to think he’s the percentage play in what is likely to be a messy race,
Selection – SIGNATURE CALLUM (6)
