The Len Ponder owned Lenson Rocky (Droopys Scolari-Momentinnework, Jun 14) kept up his unbeaten run in the Juvenile Classic at Tralee. A 28.12 first round winner, the Pat Buckley trained evens favourite led on the run-up before cutting the bend and beat Tommys Lord in a FON, 28.26.

With the next fastest first round winner Sidarian Eska (28.13) withdrawn, attention then turned to the dog he had beaten half a length, Double Oh Seven (Scolari Me Daddy-Pippy, Mar 14). This time Paul Hennessy’s black made no mistake but he had to work hard for his victory after Silverhill Pat had taken an eight length lead before fading badly. Seven clocked 28.35 and won by a length.

That time was repeated in the following qualifier by Pat kennelmate Nice Manner (Leeview Jet-Jibberish, Jun 14). The Graham Holland trained wide runner just cleared the field at the bend before opening up a seven and a half length winning margin over Coolavanny Brian.

The other qualifer went to Martina McCann’s Tammen Twister (Kinloch Brae-Razldalz Lily, Apr 14) after a tough buckle with Mobile Tracker. But as the race wore on, Twister extended his advantage to three lengths in 28.57.
