2012 Razldazl Luke wins the Irish Puppy Derby at Harolds Cross. He is exported to Austalia where he wins two of his seven races (best 29.55 Sandown 515m) before being retired injured.
2015 Sheffield GM John Gilburn has defended the right of Nottingham boss Rachel Corden to bar runners owned by GTA secretary Dave Houfton from trialling or racing at her track. Gilburn said: “I don’t know the circumstances at Nottingham, but I would absolutely defend the principle of a management’s right to prevent any owner, trainer or customer from attending a meeting. I have done so in the past and would do the same again whenever necessary.”
1988 Monmore are to scrap their 462m trip. From the end of the month, their standard distance will be 484m. In addition the track announce plans to stage their first competition over hurdles with eight runners in each heat.
1970 Mic Mac (Monalee Champion-Yurituni) destroys his field to land the Wills 700 at Dunmore by 12 lengths from Itsamint. The winner is a litter brother to Pall Mall runner-up Cobbler and Laurels winner Sole Aim.
1965 Three top Irish open racers head the prices at Aldridges Sales. Litter brothers Scarnagh Walsh and Scarnagh Brae, who both contested the Easter Cup are sold as a pair for 1,375gns. Ulster St. Leger winner Shanes Venture makes 400gns. Brae goes on to run second in the 1966 Gold Collar.
2015 Farloe Blitz is retired after breaking a hock in a trial at Limerick. Owen McKenna’s dog had led in both the English and Irish Derby finals finishing fourth and second respectively.
