1973 Plans are announced to alter the format of the Anglo-Irish International. From now on, the ‘Anglo’ side must be British bred and registered rather than simply British trained. The plan is to prove a success later in the year when Say Little (Albany-Newhouse Blue) beats fellow Brit Crescent Star at White City.
1975 June 14 Midway through the eight first round heats of the English Derby, a 730 metre challenge match is run between. Mr D Allen & J Howlett’s Glin Bridge and Mr R Smyth and D Toomey’s Lizzies Girl. The £250 a side with £250 added by GRA promotions (£750 plus trophy) event goes the George Curtis Brighton trained Glin Bridge. The 4-11 chance makes it 14 wins in a row, as he always leads the privately trained 7-4 shot Lizzies Girl, who earlier in the year had won the TV Trophy over the 815 metres at Wolverhampton. This was Glin Bridge’s first attempt at 730 metres and although Lizzies Girl was gradually gaining ground, she was three lengths behind at the line in 44.03, a new track record.

2004 Aidan Tynan is appointed as the new CEO at the Irish Greyhound Board. Tynan’s father and uncle Frank were both well known breeders responsible for the ‘Jamie’ and ‘Hack Up’ prefixes respectively.
1988 Ramsgate trainer George Ripley suffers a tragedy when 47 of his dogs die from food poisoning. The incident occurs only six weeks after an armed robbery at his Ashford home..

2000 The NGRC announce that Spring Time tested positive for a beta-blocker when beaten in the Scottish Derby Final in April. At the subsequent inquiry, trainer Ger Watson was absolved of all blame. Incredibly, the stewards made no order against anyone, nor did they come to any conclusions as to how the bitch had been doped.
1987 Wimbledon trainer Nora Gleeson retired after 21 years at Wimbledon.Her success included wins in the Laurels (Super Fame). Grand National (Grange Santa) and Pall Mall (Poor Linda). She also trained the Derby runner-up Sunbow.
