Registrations and RGT re-homings were both up in 2015. The number of greyhounds registered was 7,691, up from 7,329 last year and even higher than the 2013 figure of 7,520.

The number of trainers also rose. The GBGB currently has 420 ‘greyhound trainers’ and 341 ‘professional trainers’ an increase of 28 trainers on the same period last year.

The number of greyhounds rehomed was 3,820, up 4.7% on the previous year and 2% higher than 2013.

Important note: the ‘rehomed’ figure is only for greyhounds rehomed by the RGT. Any greyhounds homed privately or kept as pets by their owners or trainers are not included in this figure.
