Southern Ramsy completed an unbeaten run through the Betfred British Bred Trophy with victory in last night’s final over 480 metres at Nottingham.
Charlie Lister’s runner, a 5-2 shot, led from the opening turn and went on to hold the late challenge of Corley Ace by three quarters of a length in 29.01sec.
Lister said afterwards: “Southern Ramsy has always had pace but is not always the best of starters. When he came out like that he was always going to be tough to catch.”
Lister was also on the mark with his Mottos Mixer and Sidarian Bullet.
Mottos Mixer came through late to catch long-time leader Bills Heartbeat in the Stadium Bookmakers Trophy over 480 metres and score by a head in 28.88sec.
Sidarian Bullet was soon clear in the Stadium Bookmakers sprint over 305 metres to score in 17.83sec.
Lister added: “480 metres is probably too short for Mottos Mixer but he did it well and probably needs further.
“Sidarian Bullet is a new dog in from Drumbo Park in Ireland. He’s only a pup but made an impressive debut and will probably be back here next week.”
Cronody Scolari landed the night’s other feature race, the £500 Betfred Sprint Trophy Final over 305 metres.
Geraldine Kovac’s 7-1 shot was soon clear and went on to beat another outsider Rossies Guest by almost four lengths in 17.95sec.
The winning owner said: “The dog hadn’t been coming away from traps cleanly but he trapped better in the heats and flew out tonight and was always going to be hard to hold.”
Peter Wood’s Sneezys Balboa went faster in a supporting contest when flying out of the boxes and making all to beat Henlow Derby winner Southern Mesut by a length and a half in 17.80sec.
Bog Brae went quickest in the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden heats over 480 metres.
Paul Sallis’s runner forced his way to the front at the turn and went on to beat kennelmate Bleisce Charm in 29.02sec.
Dave Firmager’s Fabulous Party came from off the pace in the second heat to beat Classy Rosie by three quarters of a length in 29.16sec.
Firmager had a double with Fabulous Zita in heat three, who hit the front off the last turn and went on to beat rock Critic by three quarters of a length in 29.40sec.
