Ballymac Ramsey, who has never raced beyond 630 metres, will test punters’ judgement in next Tuesday’s Molson Coors Three Steps To Victory Final over 660 metres at Sheffield.
The Barrie Draper trained blue justified his 5-4 favouritism when landing the quickest 500 metre semi final on Tuesday night. Now three years old but with only 31 races on his card, the 2016 Racing Post Juvenile winner ran from trap four and would be followed home by Swift Hansel (T5 14-1) and Geelo Sapphire (T2 6-1) in a time of 28.62. 2017 Racing Post Juvenile winner Murrys Act (2-1) ran from traps six.
The first semi final saw victory for Murray’s kennelmate Shaneboy Freddie (T1 7-2). Kevin Boon’s English Derby semi finalist has won from 400-575m and found himself trailing early leader Droopys Rogue m(T3 16-1). Favourite Droopys Live (T2 4-5f) lost nothing in defeat having lost many lengths in running and was only beaten a length and a half in 28.93. Mark Wallis’ 20-1 outsider Saffrons Tina (T6) ran on for third. The fancied Geelo Bullet (T4 5-1) finished last.
