Last year’s 1-2-5 Millwards Teddy, Romantic Rambo and Rearguard Bond are drawn in the opening heat of the Pin Point Doncaster St.Leger first round on Saturday.
The event has drawn a high quality field and there are other intriguing clashes throughout including Calzaghe Lisa v Grand Prix finalists Dinzeo and Toottoottootsie, a Droopys rivalry in heat three between ‘Gonza’ and ‘Panto’ and the return of another of last year’s finalists Farley Rio who takes on Romany Rouge.
Racing manager Mick Smith said: “I am delighted with the entry.We had 26 entered and the only one missing was Pat Rosney’s Vatican Gurkha, who went backwards in his last trial and Pat warned me he wouldn’t enter him if he did. But there is a good mix, 12 railers, 4 middles and 8 wides and a bunch of competitive heats.”
