The build-up to the Pinpoint Yorkshire St Leger gets serious this weekend, with some top kennels represented at the two trial sessions writes John Forbes.
Charlie Lister, a big supporter of Doncaster who has won four of the ten runnings of this event, will trial Oneco Melissa, winner of the Dual Distance Stayers at Nottingham, over the 661 metres tomorrow night, one of three greyhounds he has on the list.
Barrie Draper also sends a powerful team tomorrow headed by Monmore Festival 630 runner-up Glenpadden Ace, who is bracketed alongside kennelmate and Tuesday night Sheffield open winner Droopys Gonza in one 483-metre spin with Dinzeo and Worsboro Phantom going head-to-head in another, while David Mullins will be testing the water at that session with Immiconn (661) and Paradise Malibu (275).
The Saturday trial session is highlighted by the return of Kevin Cobbold’s Romantic Rambo, runner-up in last year’s final, who will have a sharpener over 483 metres.
