Razldazl Radio’s 48th open race win from 71 starts was the highlight of the Crayford undercard on Tuesday. Trainer Ricky Holloway hopes his dog will go sailing way past the 50 mark with no retirement plans in mind writes Floyd Amphlett.
The veteran clocked 33.78 (+20) over a course and distance where he has only been beaten once in six attempts. His winning time was – adjusted to going allowance – just one spot outside his own track record.
Holloway said: “What can you say about him? He is a dog in a lifetime. He has never been seriously injured and never been beaten once leading. In fact he would have won the Grand National if Barry Stanton had drawn the six box in the final. Only kidding Barry!
“We owe a lot to Ron Mills and his assistant Christine, but beyond, it is really all down to him. I knew the 50 win mark wasn’t far away and it would be great to pass that. The plans include a return to Crayford for the Kent National Hurdle and then an attempt to win the National Hurdle at Hove for the third year in a row.
“I will know when he has had enough and that is the day he will come home to my sofa.”
