We make a start with this new feature with the thoughts of Mark Pierrepont and Rob Abrey who preview tonight’s RPGTV meetings.

NOTTINGHAM – meeting preview by Mark Pierrepont

This evenings card at Nottingham’s Colwick Park stadium looks to present a few decent betting opportunities, the first of which looks to be the Anneliese Thompson trained She’s A Mariner (NAP) who steps down to A4 class at 726pm.  ‘Mariner’ has been running well in A3 of late , finding just one too good on a few occassions , she should comfortably lead the inside and though this will invariably give Terry Munslows Hot Summer a nice run in behind , I fancy she will just have enough left in the locker in the latter stages to hold on.  ‘Summer’ meanwhile is now around the 18 week stage post season and should be ready to win in the next race or two , she can claim second this evening with a reverse forecast recommended on the pair as a saver.
Paula Timmins May 2018 pup Stratosphere got his career off to the best possible start when winning in A7 class in early February, though left in that grade he found one too good on a few occassions until finally gaining his second career success when coming from behind to beat Salacres Gypsy last time out.  That was a fair effort for a pup who is no doubt best when in an uncontested lead and though stepped upto A6 this evening i’m taking him to ping out and make all from an ideal draw in trap 3.
Laurence Tuffins bitch Burnpark Kasia had been off the card since the end of October last year prior to making her comeback in A3 last week.  ‘Kasia’ had trialled well in a number of sprints and latterly over 500m , she lost all chance at the start last week though after stumbling badly at the traps and giving away many lengths.  The run will have improved her fitness all the same and at what is likely to be a more than fair price on the earlies at least , a chance is taking that she can gain the early lead she desires and make every post a winning one.
Terry Munslow’s Caulry Daisy (NEXT BEST) is taken to win the A3 at 8.59pm and though there is no doubt that this is a much better race than when winning impressively at this level last time out , she has an excellent make up against the rail and can win again.  ‘Daisy’ was competing and winning regularly at A2 level during 2019 and even had a brief albeit unsuccessful outing in A1 company as recently as December.  Last weeks 30.26 (+50) run when coming from behind to win by 4 lengths was much more like her old self , she can claim this race before again progressing to better things.

ROMFORD ROUND UP – preview by Rob Abrey

It’s Friday and that means one thing; open racing at Romford. Open racing may well be on hold from Saturday evening but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the action tonight. Although racing is taking place behind closed doors we can watch it on Racing Post TV. To help you enjoy it while we can, I have endeavoured to find out more about three greyhounds making their Romford race debuts tonight.

Nomadic Vista for Henlow trainer Michelle Brown is making his Romford debut in a maidens race over 400 metres at 7.03pm. The August ’17 whelp has had all of his fourteen races on these shores at home track Henlow winning four. Those four wins came in A8, A6, A5 and A4 graded affairs. The son of Droopys Jet and Nomadic Brandy is in fine fettle currently, winning two from her last four races. She appears to have bundles of early pace and the drop down to 400 metres could be ideal for him.

Michelle on Nomadic Vista said: “He has gone up in grades at Henlow and ran in an A3 on Tuesday. He didn’t win but ran well to finish second. A3 at Henlow is a really good grade.

“He has loads of early pace and may suit Romford. He will get the distance easy. He took a while to settle in and now he has, he has been running really well the last couple of weeks.

“We are happy with his draw in trap six and hope he gets it right from the traps first time up.”

Skybet are 2/1 for him to take the spoils at the first time of asking.

Henlow trainer Terence Nevin is becoming a regular Friday night fixture. Tonight he tries two more of his charges for the first time around the Essex venue.

First up is Fieldview Bess in a maidens race over 400 metres at 7.03pm, the same race as Nomadic Vista covered above. The April ’17 whelp has actually come in as a reserve in replace of Yvonne Gaskin’s Tourbo Marmaduke who was withdrawn lame. The daughter of Tyrur Big Mike and Airmount Swank has recently been running over the 277 metres sprint trip at home track Henlow winning one in D3 graded company. She clearly has early pace and tonight tackles Romford for the first time.

Terence on her said: “She has come in as a reserve and think she will go alright to be truthful. She gets out okay and has being doing a few sprints at Henlow.

“She stays okay and will get the trip at Romford. She will get the trip fine and at Romford could be better then our other runner Aloha. We will see how she goes.”

Skybet make her a 12/1 shot to win at the first time of asking.

Next up for team ‘Nevin’ is Ballymac Aloha. The November ’16 whelp is making her four bend Romford debut in a bitches only race at 8.36pm. The daughter of Ballymac Best and Coolavanny Angie has raced over 575 metres back in September last year. On that occasion she finished fifth after finding trouble at the first bend. Tonight she is back and over four bends this time. She has won eleven races from sixty one races with ten of those wins coming at home track Henlow in graded affairs with an A6 the highest winning grade. She did win at Doncaster over 450 metres in an open race at the first attempt back in October. Tonight she is back to try and make it second time lucky at the Essex venue.

Terence on her said: “She’s doing alright. She is getting on a bit and thought a change of scenery would be good for her. She had one race and one win at Doncaster last year.

“She used to get out a lot better from the traps then she has been doing and will see if returning to Romford will make a difference. We will retire her soon when she comes into season and possibly mate her.

“Her trap draw in three may a bit more than a problem. She likes the rails a lot more than the middle. We will see how she goes.”

Corals are offering 25/1 for her to win at the second time of asking at Romford.
