Sponsor Kevin Peresi will be delighted with the calibre of entries for the Slim Somerville/Rhys Bramwell Trafalgar Cup which he resurrected, in 2015 but plans to discontinue after this year.
The competition, which was the major puppy event of the year at the old Wembley Stadium, and has been won by some of the superstars of racing history (Seldom Led, Wild Woolley, Quarter Day, Jubilee Time, Ballymac Tanist etc etc), will not be lacking in interest at Monmore for Saturday’s heats.
In addition to airing some of Kevin Hutton’s new Irish imports, a number of the host track’s most exciting top heat runners and the latest outing for Produce Stakes/Puppy Classic finalist Shoot The Bolt, there will be particular attention on the two Liz McNair trained pups.
King Sheeran and King Lennon, which featured on this site before they raced, are brothers to the brilliant Queen Adele. Lennon in particular, with a 27.67 (+20) first look over course and distance, has to rate as one of the most exciting young prospects to be currently hitting the tracks. The pair are hugely inexperienced with just three races between them, and are among the youngest on show, but their potential is surely there for all to see.
