The planned twelve heats have been reduced to ten, with four five-runner heats (3 to qualify) and eight six-runner heats (4 to qualify).
As always, the event is dominated by runners destined to spend their careers in graded company, but among them, usually still unexposed, are runners with loftier ambitions.
A quick glance at the form reveals various youngsters already contesting decent grades at their home tracks, and with British bred pups traditionally less forward than their Irish counterparts, their potential is not hard to imagine.
The most successful of the 56 runners to date is Paul Sallis’ BGBF Puppy Stake winner Roxhill Mystique who is ironically drawn up against her open race winning brother Skyfall Venom.
