Reigning champ Billys Bullet exited the Prestige Stakes in the qualifiers at Hall Green.
Mark Wallis’ black found himself towards the back of the pack as Elwick Glory (T1) led up from Ferryforth Fran (T6) who took the scenic route at the bends as Leons Buck (T3) moved into second. With a circuit gone, Glory was looking vulnerable and going into the fifth bend, Buck made his move. Glory shut the door causing Buck to check and Billys Bullet ran into the roadblock. Glory kicked on pursued by Ferryforth Fran who had avoided the trouble and ran on to win by a head in 40.12 (-45). Leons Buck was outrun for third place by Billys Bullet.
Deanridge Pennys (4-1) and Farneys Cookie trapped in front in the opening qualifier and then slipped first bend trouble. The Yarmouth based pair were never challenged, Pennys getting home by two lengths in 40.21 (-45)
Golden Jacket favourite Fizzypop Buddy (T6) was easily the quickest of the three heat winners. In what proved to be two runner buckle, June Harvey’s Leger winner trapped alongside Wiki Waki Woo (T1) and despite giving yards away when running off the second bend, always looked in command and came home three clear of the field in 39.70 (-45).
