I am obviously disappointed not to make the ballot especially as the last GBGB press release on their website stated that three of the six candidates would be put forward to a democratic vote of owners. I have noted that only two owners have been nominated. However, having considered the matter the industry and the process to elect an owner on to the GBGB is far more important than my personal disappointment and I would strongly recommend to fellow owners that they engage in the democratic process. My personal view, and I stated this in my interview, is that the democratic process should be widened. This can be achieved by the independent directors on the GBGB being elected rather than appointed. We have a very wide array of talent among owners, breeders and trainers and I would encourage the GBGB to take advantage of this pool of talent in order to move our industry forward.
