The main summer sales will take place at Shelbourne Park on Friday 24 August 2018 for a maximum of 60 unraced greyhounds. Entry is confined to those whelped September 2016 or later which have qualified over 525 yards. The following conditions have been set; entries to Sales Office at Shelbourne Park before Friday 17 August, reserves to be declared at time of entry, weigh in by 9AM, trials start at 10AM with auction due to begin at 12PM.
The top 24 greyhounds based on their sales trials, will compete in an unraced sweepstake for a first placed prize of €10,000. This will commence at Shelbourne Park on 13 September. All remaining greyhounds will be placed into a surplus sweepstake (prize money finalised once entries confirmed). Eliminated greyhounds from the unraced first round may be granted entry for this surplus sweepstake, depending on the number of unraced greyhounds being available. The estimated prize fund total is circa €29,000.
Qualification to the sweepstakes is conditional on a greyhound either being sold through the auction or withdrawn and that the owner has paid the commission on the declared Reserve Price. All greyhounds are subject to testing for prohibited substances, pursuant to the Greyhound Industry (Racing) Regulations 2007-2017. Any subsequent adverse analytical finding will disqualify the greyhound from the unraced and surplus sweepstakes.
