The latest track auction from Premier Greyhound Sales takes place at Sheffield’s Owlerton circuit on Wednesday 6th March 2024. Gates will open at 9am with trials set to begin at approximately 10am. The auction itself will take place in the bar area of the stadium around 30 minutes after the completion of the days final trial. Refreshments will be available as usual from the excellent Sheffield stadium food and drink bars. As usual a quality collection of young greyhounds many of which are unraced and a handful of lightly raced types with untapped potential. The sale as usual is previewed in full by Mark Pierrepont –
OFF THE FENCE – Unraced July 2022 son of Sizzling Daisy who is a well proven producer of open and competition class greyhounds including the likes of 2023 Grand National Champion Coppice Fox and Look Like Power the sensational four and six bend competition class performer who reached the final of the Derby Plate at Towcester and a winner of many big open races over distances between 480m and 640m.
TRUMPS MUGSHOT – Unraced September 2022 dog pup by Burgess Bucks out of Maytown Bard who produced Newcastle top grade winner Bruno Bruno in her maiden litter to Crash.
MOVEIT MOVEIT – Not a mark on the card of this extremely promising unraced member of the July 2022 litter of Droopys Sydney and Dolce Vita. This young lad has been showcasing great promise at home with the Matthews team and big things are expected of him as the year progresses. Likely to be of great interest to all those with a keen eye for quality.
LASTMINUTEDOTCOM – A super early paced unraced puppy prospect from the Matthews team by Broadstrand Bono out of Hop The Ball who is a well proven producer of open class talent including the likes of Peter Harnden’s Salacres Blake who has runs of 2726 Henlow and 1572 Towcester on his impressive CV. Ran out a wide margin winner of the only trial on his card at Shelbourne Park in an impressive 2943 but given that he reportedly tied up badly in the latter stages there is little doubt this lad will be seen to even better effect at some of the sharper UK venues.
DROOPYS QUEEN – As with the vast majority of Droopys greyhounds attending the sales here in the UK this unraced lady heads to the UK without a single mark on her card. Reared and schooled with one of the leading teams in the game Queen will undoubtedly know her job but reports from the Droopys team suggest there is plenty of improvement left in the locker. An August 2022 daughter of Dromana Bucko and Droopys Berry she counts many open and competition class performers amongst her half siblings including the likes of Bubbly Apache the 2021 Puppy Classic Champion here in the UK.
DROOPYS UGO – Unraced August 2022 bitch pup who recorded 1749 in the only trial on her card at Kilkenny. A daughter of Droopys Jet out of Droopys Saga who is well proven in the breeding paddocks and the word from the team at home is that this lady has plenty of ability. Ugo hails from the Droopys Coast line making her a half sister to the likes of Droopys Curio amongst many others and there is a strong belief that not only could this lady be successful on the track in her own right but she has every chance of becoming a successful brood in her own right further down the line.
AMAZING PEACH – An inexperienced and unraced youngster from a very promising litter. Dam produced many top class dogs in her first litter such as Boylesports Gift, Boylesports Vic. Peach is open to loads of development giving her age.
GOOD SOPHIA – A massively exciting prospect. This young unraced bitch puppy is reported to be schooling very well at home. From the Portumna West dam lines by the fantastic sire Good News. Breeding bound to produce tremendous all round pace.
POPTHECHAMPAGNE – Unraced August 2022 dog pup by Burgess Bucks out of Ballymac Notoyou who has reportedly been impressing the team at the Sean Conway establishment greatly with his excellent attitude and searing early pace. Totally unexposed with much improvement to come on whatever he does on sales day at Sheffield but no doubting at all that there will be huge interest in this one who hails from a set up which regularly provides quality open and competition class greyhounds to the UK racing scene.
LOVES STARLIGHT – Another from the Sean Conway establishment who will have many eyes keen on adding this young lady to their kennels. The youngest entry into the sale this unraced bitch pup won’t reach 2 years of age until December this year. So much improvement to come from this daughter of Dorotas Wildcat and Sidarian Pearl who is a well proven producer of open class greyhounds. Starlight has been showcasing huge early both during the rearing and early schooling process and though this lady will likely not come cheaply she will certainly arrive with her new connections with a huge dose of class and an equal amount of untapped potential.
CAREFULLY SELECT – Not a mark on the card of this extremely highly thought of unraced son of the super stud Droopys Sydney out of the fantastic Dolce Vita who has been producing the goods in the breeding paddocks in no uncertain terms being responsible for the likes of Antigua Sugar who followed up her 2022 English Derby Final night victory in the Greyhound Trader Stakes with memorable success in the 2023 finals of the Juvenile Classic and Coronation Cup at Towcester and Romford respectively.
HAS A SQUEAK – Unraced June 2022 bitch pup out of the strong running and very well bred News Headlines. Has been gaining experience in a series of trials around Shelbourne Park lately recording 3027 last time out. The litter are already winning races here in the UK including Jimmy Fenwick’s Ballymac Lineout who reached the semi final of the Northern Puppy Derby at Newcastle recently and Peter Harnden’s Salacres Cath who is already a six time winner with two of those victories coming in open class at Towcester.
RAPIDO LU LU – Unraced August 2022 bitch pup out of 2019 Irish Puppy Oaks Champion Cracked Lady. Recorded 2992 in the only trial on her card to date around Waterford.
RAPIDO BEN – Full unraced brother to Lu Lu who recorded 2999 around Waterford in the only four bend trial on his card.
ROMANTIC RICARDO – Just the one race on the card of this April 2022 son of Savana Puma showing promise in a Drumbo Park sprint but it was his trial next time out around Clonmel when recording 2931 which really takes the eye and marks him out as an above average sort.
BALLYCOOLE MAGGY – Lightly raced April 2022 bitch by Ballymac Eske. Moderate form to date but plenty of time to improve and should prove a useful addition to the graded scene.
BILLIONAIRE BOY – Not a mark on the card of this July 2022 son of Malachi and Cielo who finished runner up in the Cork Oaks Final of 2022. Breeding very much takes the eye and his on the day trial will be very informative. Dam was superbly trained by Owen McKenna who is also responsible for this first mating and the word from an early stage has been that they have immense promise.

EASY CREED – Hailing from the hugely respected Easy kennel of Barry Rocks this unraced September 2022 son of Burgess Bucks and Ballymac Saga has been pleasing in his early home work massively. Given his breeding early pace looks assured and with so much time to strengthen up he can only improve his stamina for many months to come. Very interesting sort who will no doubt attract plenty of attention.
PHARIS NUNEZ – Unraced July 2022 son of Broadstrand Bono who has been showing plenty of early zip in his Irish qualifying trials including when leading all the way around Lifford in 3049.
AMAZING FORCE – Litter brother to Miss Syd top lot at Crayford sales who is now top open class in Crayford. Amazing force is a hugely exciting unraced pup. Reporting to be a professional looking type, who is held in high regard at home.
AMAZING PIXIE – Again this is a promising litter sister to the great Miss Syd. Pixie is showing a great turn of foot during her schooling. Open to plenty of improvement with her whole career ahead of her.
MADAM TIGER – Unraced coursing bred March 2022 bitch but showcased plenty of track ability when posting 2962 in the only four bend trial of her life at Limerick recently. Strapping young lady who weighed in at 75lb for that aforementioned trial. Interesting sort.
MOANTEEN BONO – Unraced November 2022 dog pup by Broadstrand Bono out of Droopys Madam and though well beaten off by Tiger in the Limerick trial detailed above he’s got much improvement to come given that he won’t reach 2 years old until November.
SWIFT ELDER – Unraced July 2022 son of Malachi out of Swift Patrol who posted 2978 when winning the only trial on his card at Clonmel recently by 2 lengths. First litter of Patrol to Grangeview Ten are already winning some nice races and this litter have been showing great promise throughout the rearing stage too.
SWIFT BARBER – Not a mark on the card of this unraced June 2022 son of Droopys Sydney and Coney Peninsula who is a well proven producer of open and top grade performers. On the day trial will be of interest and should give a guide as to this lads potential.
RAPDIO SLING – Unraced May 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Enable who of course is a well proven producer of open and competition class offspring including the likes of All About Ted the 2021 Irish Derby Finalist and winner of the Greyhound Trader 575 on Night Of Stars in the same year. Much improvement to come from this young lady over the coming months.
DROPSIE – Exciting unraced May 2022 dog pup by Ballymac Bolger out of String Of Pearls who has been producing open class offspring with regularity in her litters to date. Dropsie who weighed in at 82lb for his most recent trial looks sure to be well suited to the likes of Sheffield and other galloping circuits and if his last time out clocking of 2939 at Waterford is anything to go by he’s heading for a career in high grade at least and potentially in open class.
INTREPIDITY (EX – DROOPYS BIZZIE) – Lightly raced young bitch from the Matthews team who has already won around Shelbourne Park in 2892. Just on the comeback post season and is showing all the signs of maturing into a high class individual. This lady will not come cheap but class rarely does and she looks a bitch who will be competing against some of the best around during the coming year. Big run expected on sales day but with the footnote that there will be plenty left to come.
INFLUENCERS – Unraced young bitch who will prove a solid addition to the graded scene here in the UK. Nice touch of early pace and should have no difficulty winning races at her level. Reared and schooled perfectly by the Matthews team over in Newry.
LETS GET SMASHED – Unraced July 2022 bitch who has shown good promise in her trials to date and is extremely eye catching being a lovely looking blue brindle. Wide margin trial winner around Dundalk latest beating off her sole rival by fully 8 lengths in 2231. Dam Ballymac Orna has already proven herself in the breeding paddocks being the mother of 2023 Bet365 English Puppy Oaks Finalist Deelish Nora.
MAXIMUM CALIBRE – Undoubtedly an open class puppy prospect right out of the top drawer. Breeding to die for being a son of Cockyorconfident who has already in her brood career produced the likes of Crafty Kokoro the 2021 Corn Cuchulainn Champion and finalist in the Irish Greyhound Derby Final in the same year where she finished a hugely creditable third. Breeding like this doesn’t come around easily and when you factor in that he’s been reared at the Sean Conway ‘School Of Excellence’ there is every reason to believe that Calibre will be one of the most sought after lots of the day. He’s had just the two trials in his life winning both comfortably in 1796 at Lifford and subsequently recording a fantastic 2893 in the first four bend trial of his life around Shelbourne Park.
MAKE IT EASY – Exiting unraced September 2022 bitch pup prospect by Deerjet Sydney out of Droopys Guide who is an unraced full sister to the sensational Broadstrand Ryan. Make It Easy didn’t take up the running until heading into the third turn at Shelbourne Park in the only trial on her card to date but pulled right away for a 10 length victory over her sole rival in a more than promising 2935.
VITAL LAST HIT – Full brother to Make It Easy detailed above and showed similar promise when running out a 14 length winner of the only trial on his card at Shelbourne Park. Leading at halfway he really opened up from that point home and he without doubt looks an exceptional sort who will warrant much on the day attention.
CHASING EVIE – Just two races on the card of this August 2022 bitch pup and got off the mark in the second of those when leading all the way at Clonmel to land a touch in 2949. Decent early pace about this lady and looks sure to do the job early for new connections. Dam Absolutely Ace is well proven in the breeding paddocks and counts the likes of Chasing Landy the 2021 Monmore Gold Cup finalist amongst her offspring.
CLUENDARBY ROBIN – Two time race winning bitch in Ireland with a best of 2925 on the card at Clonmel. Solid performer who looks sure to prove a welcome addition to any graded set up here in the UK.
GOOD MAVERICK – Member of a top class litter which included Epic Bella a 2844 winner around Clonmel in the Rural Kennels Unraced Stake. This unraced July 2022 dog has reportedly been showing plenty of pace at home and a big future looks on the cards.
EPIC GOLD – A July 22 dog by the famed Ice on fire. With no mark on his card and can do nothing but improve for sometime to come. Showing huge strong running pace at home. This youngster is open to plenty of progression.
PEARLS MAGIC – Unraced September 2022 bitch pup from the Sean Conway set up who has been showing plenty of staying on power in her schooling trials. By the leading stud dog Droopys Sydney out of Mon Amie an open class daughter of Sizzling Daisy. Magic has plenty of potential and is rated highly by her shrewd connections who time after time produce the goods
SHADOW WARRIOR – Full unraced brother to Pearls Magic detailed above with very similar comments applying. There will be many interested in purchasing one of the most promising young pups in the sale.
EASY TARA – August 2022 bitch pup from the hugely respected Easy kennels of Barry Rock. Not long back from seasonal rest and improving for every run so a decent on the day effort anticipated but with the footnote that this young lady can do nothing but improve.
EASY DAL – Another really nice unraced prospect from Barry Rocks with Sheffield expected to suit perfectly. Has been noted staying on well in his schooling trials by connections who would be well aware of what it takes to win races around the Owlerton circuit. Dam Ragaire produced some real nice open class performers in her first litter to Droopys Sydney and the word is that this litter have also been showing exceptional promise.
SHE GOES WOSH – Well thought of young Ballymac Bolger bitch out of See Of Class who has been displaying a fair amount of early pace in her trials to date. Her shrewd connections believe there is much more to come from this young lady than is on the card so could easily go right through the grades. Reared and schooled to perfection by the Matthews team over in Newry she has a 2993 on the card at Enniscorthy but make no mistake at all there is much more to come.
MISS MOO – Lightly raced September 2021 bitch by Droopys Sydney who will prove a useful addition to any graded set up in the UK. Yet to win a race but has shown her turn shouldn’t be too far away with a number of reasonable efforts including when picked up late at Shelbourne recording 2906 in the process. Could prove well at home at one of the sharper circuits here in the UK.
GOOD PIXIE – Another member of the top class Broadstrand Bono and Good Diva litter of July 2022. Stunning blue bitch who has been displaying great pace on the home gallops and expected to develop into a real nice type.
AMAZING ROMEO – Full brother to Miss Syd a three time open race winner here in the UK already. Romeo under performed in the Romford sale earlier this year as much better was expected on the day. Has had plenty of work back home since and now seems a much more mature pup who should be seen to something much more like his true potential here at Sheffield. Regardless of his on the day trial will no doubt benefit from settling into his new surroundings and should have no difficulty moving right through the grades.
RAPIDO STYLE – Unraced August 2022 bitch pup by Dorotas Wildcat and out of 2019 Irish Puppy Oaks Champion Cracked Lady. Nice type who has just the one trial on the card posting 2981 at Waterford.
RAPIDO SUE – Full unraced sister to Style detailed above who won the only trial on her card by fully 5 lengths in 2964 around Waterford. Lots to come from this likeable youngster.
DROOPYS BRIDGET – September 2022 bitch pup from the King Sheeran litter out of Droopys Meteor. As with all pups from the famed Droopys establishment she will have been given nothing but the best from day one. Dam Meteor through open class pups to Malachi in her first litter and this second litter have been showing equally as much if not even more potential from an early stage. Bridget’s on the day trial will be of much interest.
DROOPYS HISTORIC – Another hugely exciting unraced prospect from the Droopys team this time an August 2022 dog pup by Dromana Bucko out of Droopys Berry who of cause is well proven in the breeding paddocks counting the likes of Bubbly Apache amongst her offspring. This youngster is extremely highly rated by the Droopys team and heads across the Irish sea with the firm belief that he should soon be making his way onto the open circuit here in the UK. A lofty reputation and sure to keep buyers around until late into the sale.
GANGSTER GRANNY – Not a mark on the card of this hugely exciting unraced bitch by Malachi out of the open class producing dam Killinan Reina. In her previous litters Reina has already produced the likes of Bling Bling Paul the multiple big race winner around Limerick and Ballsy Bullet a top grade and open class winner here in the UK around Hove and Romford. There will be plenty looking to add Granny to their strings.
HONDA FIFTY – Not one single mark on the card of this young lady but given that this July 2022 whelp is a member of the Ballymac Bolger and Bling Bling Lola litter there is little doubt that she will be of huge interest. Lola is well proven having already produced the likes of Disco Pants a winner of many opens on Irish soil and Maglass Brave who is a top grade and open class winner here in the UK. Full brother to Honda Fifty is non other than Ballyard Disco who is so far unraced but set many tongues wagging when clocking 2887 at Tralee in a qualifying trial. There will be plenty sticking around until late in the day to try and secure the services of this hugely promising pup.
