The Premier Greyhound Sales team head to Monmore on Friday 7th June 2024 for the latest instalment of their ever increasing in popularity greyhound auctions. The team have consistently been providing big race winners to the UK racing scene and the latest catalogue contains a whole host of young greyhounds who look destined to go on to big things for their new connections. The catalogue contains quality from top to bottom and as usual is expertly previewed by Mark Pierrepont –
SEEKING HEIDI – Unraced June 2022 bitch pup by Burgess Bucks and from the maiden litter of Missinginaction who is a half sister of superstar Irish sprinter Flashing Willow. Just the sole trial currently on the card of Heidi in which she ran out a 2 length winner of a 3 dog affair at Newbridge in 1881.
BABY SPROUT – Full sister to Heidi detailed above and despite trouble in running was beaten off just 3 lengths in that aforementioned Newbridge trial. Plenty to come from this litter who look sure to be winning plenty here in the UK.
MAKEADIFFERENCE – August 2022 son of Jacob Tashadelek (2021 Juvenile Classic Finalist) out of the maiden litter of Satin Abbie. This litter are already beginning to win some nice races including Make Me Queen who won A1 at Newbridge recently. Makeadifference backed up the promise shown in his first two competitive starts when winning last time out in 2908 at Cork. Showing plenty of pace throughout he showed a really likeable attitude to come again once headed and was notably clear at the pick up. Nice type who is sure to win plenty over a variety of trips.
SWIFT QAY – Unraced September 2022 son of Pestana and Swift Zap who posted 3042 when winning the only trial of his life to date by a length at Clonmel. Sought after wide runner.
BEGINAGINS AVA – Unraced November 2022 daughter of Pestana from the maiden litter of Pacific Josie who of course is a full sister of 2023 Cesarewitch Finalist Jurassic Rose. Should grade in nicely for new connections with just a handful of educational trials currently on the card.
MAJECKA – Stunning January 2023 fawn bitch pup without a single mark on her card. A daughter of Ballymac Anton out of the mass open and competition class producing dam Sizzling Daisy Majecka has been reared and schooled to perfection by her team at the McCusker set up and there will be plenty of attention on her on sales day of that there is little doubt.
DE RACER – Make absolutely no mistake about it this unraced November 2022 dog pup is an open and competition class prospect from the very top drawer. A product of the mating between Malachi and Pennys Lauren (proven producer of open class offspring) he scorched around Shelbourne Park on Saturday night in a sensational 2884 in what was the very first 4 bend trial of his life. Destined for a career in amongst the best greyhounds in the UK this lad has so much to target in the months to come. As expected with pups hailing from the base of Brendan ‘The Newry Maestro’ Matthews he has received nothing but the very best throughout his rearing and schooling and this can only serve him well going forward. PASS THE BUCK – Unraced January 2023 bitch pup from the mating of Malachi and Love Island who of course is well proven in the breeding paddocks counting the likes of English Greyhound Derby semi finalist Burj Khalifa who went on to land the Time Greyhound Nutrition Challenge Trophy on English Derby Final night itself. Reached the semi final of the Ladbrokes Winter Derby earlier this year at Monmore and on Saturday evening will line up in the third round of the English Derby. Love Island’s second litter again produced quality throughout seeing her responsible for Knockeen Dazzler who ran out a memorable winner of €80,000 to-the-winner Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake Final at Limerick earlier this year. Another who has been reared and schooled by Brendan Matthews and his team this young lady looks to have an exciting track career ahead of her but maybe an even better brood career in the future.
FREEBIE – Lightly raced April 2022 son of Ballymac Cashout who has shown more than enough in his handful of races to date to suggest that he should more than pay his way on the UK graded scene.
GOOD ECHO – Unraced Broadstrand Bono bitch from the maiden litter of Good Diva who of course hails from the famed Airport Express dam line. Echo has shown plenty of promise during her rearing and schooling and counts Icemans Girl amongst her litter mates who posted 2834 around Clonmel when winning her second round heat of the Rural Kennels Open Unraced Stake. Icemans Girl was subsequently sold to high profile connections in the UK and after posting 2842 around Monmore in her first ever four bend trial on UK soil and then only narrowly failing to qualify for the final of the Puppy Derby at the same venue it was easy to see why. Plenty to be won on the track with this young lady but those with a keen eye for a quality blood line will no doubt have her in their sights with future brood prospects unquestionable.
DROOPYS BREAK – absolute baby from the famed Droopys establishment who as an unraced March 2023 whelp can do nothing but improve for a long time to come. A daughter of Droopys Buick out of Droopys Saab who is a well proven producer of open class this young lady has been showing plenty of early speed on the home gallops and is expected to make into a really nice type for new connections here in the UK.
DROOPYS FODDER – there is no hiding the fact that Fodder is a youngster of extreme promise. The Droopys team rate this April 2023 son of Malachi out of Droopys Charm highly and they have done so for quite sometime. Dam Charm is consistently producing the goods with her being responsible for the likes of Droopys Eunice who earlier this year competed in the Puppy Derby Final at Monmore. Those seeking a high class pup who has been reared to perfection by one of the leading teams in the sport will have their eyes on securing this youngster. He won’t come cheaply that much is for certain but his new connections will have secured an immense prospect. Only lightly schooled back home thus far but the potential has been clear to see and he is expected to demonstrate a glimpse of that ability on sales day.
HURL IT OUT – Not a single mark on the card of this superbly bred September 2022 son of Ballymac Wild from the second litter of Mary The Thief. Each and every one of the first litter from Mary by the pacey stud dog Droopys Jet have proven successful on the track and the word from a very early stage has been that this second litter to Ballymac Wild are levels above. On the day sales trial will be of interest but there is little doubt that Hurl It Out will be quickening his way through the UK graded system at a rapid rate of knots.
INSECURE – unraced January 2023 daughter of Malachi out of Droopys Megan who produces open class offspring with regularity and is of course the dam of the sensational 2023 Derby Plate Champion Whyaye Man. Reared and schooled to perfection by Sean Conway and his team this young lady will have wanted for absolutely nothing until this stage and that can only serve her well throughout what promises to be a top class career on the track and in the breeding paddocks later in life. Highly thought of individual who is likely to attract much in the way of bidding.
SPORTING STAGE – unraced September 2022 son of Droopys Sydney out of Sporting Faith who very much looks to be one for the open class scene here in the UK. Has just the one four bend trial on his card and did what only very promising youngsters do and broke the 29 second mark around Tralee with a sensational wide margin trial victory in 2899. Hailing from the Jerry Griffin set up who are well known for providing quality performers to the UK market he’s sure to be on the wish list of many.
SPORTING PERIDOT – February 2023 son of Malachi out of Sporting Riviera who is a proven producer of open class performers. Peridot has just the sole trial on his card to date in which he recorded 2990 around Tralee when beating off his sole rival by 2 lengths. Massive improvement to come and this one could be absolutely anything given his tender age.
RUTHLESS – Breeding doesn’t get much better than this. Droopys Sydney out of English Oaks Champion and superstar of the sport Billys Diva. This unraced September 2022 whelp was sent to Crayford sale and though winning his trial there didn’t perform to anything like the standard he’d been showing back home. With further schooling now complete and reports of yet another unofficial trial right out of the top drawer the belief from the Kennedy team is that this lad will show it on sales day at Monmore and show exactly why he wasn’t go anywhere ‘on the cheap’. Many eyes will be on his trial but if he backs up his home work he will be attracting much in the way of eager sales ring bidding.
CLAIM THE STARS – Unraced July 2022 son of Ice On Fire out of Royston News who has been given plenty of time to mature into his substantial frame. Weighing in at 88lb for the sole trial on his card when clocking 1985 around Shelbourne Park he can only improve for experience. Should be well suited by the more galloping circuits of the UK where he should quickly progress through the grades.
TREE TOP COPPER – unraced September 2022 son of Good News out of Wolfofallstreets who has produced open class in both of her first two litters and this lad from her third mating looks to be heading very much in the same direction. Connections had Copper down as a talented sort for quite some time and after an initial 3039 effort around Clonmel in a trial back in April he showed something much nearer his true potential with an excellent 2925 effort around Cork on Friday. Connections report that he needed that blow out massively and will not at all be surprised to see him improve massively with each run over the coming weeks. Looks a real nice prospect for the year ahead.
MAHOGANY SWIFT (EX – GRINANDBAREIT) – Experienced sort who is a three time race winner on Irish soil with a best of 2920 around Clonmel last October when making all in a devastating display of early pace. Dropped down the grades since then but showed he’s on the comeback trail with an early paced victory last time out again at Clonmel and looks one that new connections should be able to quickly get the purchase price back on.
DE GRANDE – full sister to De Racer and though a little slower on the clock when recording 2930 around Shelbourne Park on Saturday night that was no bad effort on what was her first ever try at 4 bends. Indeed such a run carries all the hall marks of a young bitch who will be plying her trade in the high grades at least with open class more than a distinct possibility. Has had a season and should progress for quite some time to come yet this young lady is sure to attract attention of all those keen on quality not just for the short term but undoubtedly the longer term as a brood.
DUSTY CHIEF – Lightly raced March 2022 son of Laughil Blake out of the competition class producing dam Love Island. Already has 4 race wins to his name with a best of 2871 when coming from behind at Shelbourne Park. A wide runner who will no doubt appeal to many and looks sure to be winning plenty of good class races here in the UK in the months to come.
NO SMALL TALK – Unraced November 2022 son of Iconic Rory an open class son of Mountaylor Queen making him a half brother to 2023 Irish Greyhound Derby Champion The Other Kobe. Dam Sweet Shalimar is a proven producer of open class and this lad looks another likely to make that sphere if his 2929 trial winning effort around Cork on just his second appearance on a track is anything to go by. Terrific stamp of a greyhound and looks to have a very bright career ahead of him.
FINE THANKS – June 2022 son of Droopys Sydney out of Tibet who time and time again produces open and competition class offspring not least the 2021 English Puppy Derby Champion Make Noise. Fine Thanks looks to be heading to the top and backed up the promise shown in his sole competitive start to date when posting 2882 around Cork in a wide margin trial victory last Tuesday.
WONDERFUL CHANEL – not a mark on the card of this November 2022 bitch pup by Ballymac Bolger out of Scooby Princess who was a superstar lady on the track emerging victorious in the Limerick Oaks in 2021 and finishing runner up in the Irish Oaks itself at Shelbourne Park later in the same year. Scooby’s maiden litter to Droopys Sydney have been burning up the tracks with some sensational runs on the card including Scooby Countess 2820 on the card at Shelbourne Park and a finalist in the €12500 to the winner I.G.O.B.F Puppy event around the same venue at the back end of last year. Scooby Pacemaker reached the final of the prestigious Con & Ann Kirby Memorial at Limerick earlier this year and with times of 2829 Shelbourne and 2827 Limerick on the card his pace and class is clear to see. Scooby The Duke was a 2866 winner around Shelbourne Park on just his second career start and has since followed that up with a 2869 victory around HQ in open class whilst The Other Donny was a stunning 2911 winner around Towcester in mid April in the first round of the KAB Maiden Derby before being unluckily eliminated from the competition at the semi final stage when encountering all kinds of trouble. Chanel simply oozes class and has been highly regarded for quite some time so if it’s a qualify track performer with huge brood potential you’re looking for then she will very much be high up on your list.
CRANNON LADY – unraced November 2022 daughter of Pestana out of Pacific Josie who is a full sister of 2023 Cesarewitch Finalist Jurassic Rose. Lady has just the sole 4 bend trial on her card and showed plenty of early pace to cross the line 2 lengths clear of her sole rival in 3032 around Lifford.
RAPIDO ISABEL – unraced November 2022 bitch pup by Kinloch Brae out of the 2018 Irish Bitch Of The Year Vancouver. Has been reared and schooled to perfection thus far and will have no difficulty progressing into a real nice type here in the UK for new connections.
PERFECTO FARRELL – promising unraced August 2022 dog pup by Droopys Sydney out of Scooter who is a well proven producer of top grade and open class offspring. Farrell posted 2943 around Waterford in what is to date the only 4 bend trial of his life. Lots to come from this likeable sort.
CUTABOVETHEREST – unraced September 2022 dog pup by Skywalker Canny out of Newinn Melody who was a top grade winner on the track at sales venue Monmore and counts Irish Derby Champion of 2020 Newinn Taylor amongst her illustrious siblings. Not a mark on the card of this youngster so his on the day trial will be of interest however with breeding like this he is sure to prove a very attractive proposition.
TIBSY WIBSY – unraced June 2022 bitch pup by Droopys Sydney out of the dam of 2021 English Puppy Derby Champion Make Noise. Well regarded lady who has been showing plenty of promise at home and bloodlines suggest a breeding career once her racing days are over is far from out of the question.
FERGUS PEST – just the 3 races on the card of this July 2022 bitch by Pestana out of Bling Bling Tres and what promise she has already shown clocking 2859 around Newbridge on just her second career start. No question at all that this is a bitch pup with the world at her feet and no surprise to see her go on and win some very nice races here in the UK. Will be approximately 11 weeks post season at the time of the sale so can only improve for a number of weeks to come and there is little doubt that those keen to add a bitch with potential to go on to huge things here in the UK will have her high up on their list of potential targets.
WHO AM I – what a prospect this March 2022 son of Droopys Sydney out of Please Saxa is. This stunning black and white greyhound was held up massively with the cough in the early stages of his career but has been held in the very highest regard for quite sometime. Trial watchers noted this lad doing some huge runs in early stage unofficial trials and with the benefit of his most recent trial at Waterford now under his belt it shouldn’t be too long before he’s beginning to show his true self once again. A huge run is expected from him on sales day at Monmore and he is fully expected to improve with each and every run for sometime to come. There will be many eyes on his on the day trial but word from his extremely shrewd connections at the Shane O’Gorman camp is that this lad is without doubt one to watch.
SPORTING AMBER – unraced February 2023 bitch pup from the mating of Malachi out of Sporting Riviera who looks like making into a real nice type both for the track and later in the breeding paddocks. Posted 2938 around Tralee when winning the only trial currently on her card by 2 ½ lengths.
SPORTING LAPIS – unraced full sister to Amber detailed above and though beaten by her in that aforementioned trial still recorded 2955 herself. Nice type and there really isn’t much between herself and her sister at this stage.
AMAZING HULK – Strapping white and brindle son of Droopys Sydney. A dog who has a very good trapping ability and pace at all stages of a circuit. May be suited to a sharp 480m with his early likely to be winning him plenty of races in the future.
BOOM BLUE – The eye is drawn straight to this fellow with a scorching 16.44 first look at Clonmel. From a class litter with comrades already clocking 28.22 Perry Barr and 28.75 Kilkenny to name just a few. A dog who looks to have a bright future and looks sure to be well suited to sales venue Monmore. With any kind of run on sales day this lad is sure to show exactly why he’s rated so highly by the shrewd Kennedy team back home in Ireland.
DE CHASE – Another superb prospect from the Brendan Matthews team who might have been a little slower on the clock than his brother De Racer when they trialled at Shelbourne Park on Saturday evening but he similarly was a hugely impressive winner of his trial in what again was his first attempt at 4 bends. Stopping the clock in a super 2900 which came off the back of an extremely moderate 235 split only serves to highlight exactly how much is to come from this son of Malachi and Pennys Lauren. Another who has every chance of progressing to the open and competition class circuits and another who won’t come cheaply but will most definitely arrive with new connections with every chance of fulfilling dreams.
DA BLUE FLASH – unraced January 2023 bitch pup and another member of the Malachi litter out of Love Island. So much to come from this youngster who again has every chance of making it big on the track but potentially even bigger as a brood in the future. Hailing from the Newry base of Brendan Matthews her new connections will be well aware than she will have received nothing but the best until this stage.
DERRYVOOREY – this unraced November 2022 dog pup looks a real nice prospect. Son of Pestana out of Pacific Josie who is a full sister of 2023 Cesarewitch Finalist Jurassic Rose he posted a decent 2890 around Derry when winning the only 4 bend trial of his life thus far by fully 5 lengths.
EASY OJO – just 3 races on the card of this December 2022 dog pups card and what a start to his career he’s made. A winning debut at Derry to win by 5 lengths in 1682 was followed up on his third start on Sunday evening when absolutely destroying his opposition at Lifford by 5 3/4 lengths in a sensational 1754. To make this run even more impressive he did so after a missed break before powering through the gears to take command in dominant fashion at the first bend. Hailing from the famed Barry Rocks establishment this youngster definitely knows his job and as with all graduates of the Rock establishment can be relied upon to reproduce the goods once arriving here in England with new connections. Power , pace and ability this son of Ballymac Cashout looks to have it all and is sure to be in high demand on sales day at Monmore.
CALL IT OFF – unraced January 2023 dog pup by Malachi out of Droopys Megan who produces open class offspring with regularity and is of course the dam of the sensational 2023 Derby Plate Champion Whyaye Man. This young lad has been showing big potential back home and connections are strongly anticipating a big run on sales day at Monmore. LONGRANGE ERIN – stunning white and blue bitch who as an October 2022 whelp has many months of improvement to come. That said Erin managed to get her career up and running at just the third time of asking as she produced a high class performance at Lifford to win a decent affair by 3 lengths in an excellent 1773.
LONGRANGE CROIA – full sister to Erin detailed above and though she’s yet to get off the mark Croia has had just the two competitive starts and it’s surely only a matter of time before this wide running lady gets herself onto the winners podium.
MARKET DANGER – lightly raced type who got his career up and running last time out at Waterford with an early pace always led victory in 2908. Sure to be well suited by the likes of sales venue Monmore where his early pace and ability to see out the four bends should serve him well. Will win plenty and arrive with new connections fit and ready to get the job done.
BOXING FRIENDS – stunning fawn greyhound who as an October 2022 whelp has plenty to come but this son of Ballymac Best has already advertised both his ability and versatility. A strong running performance to come from behind and win at Cork in mid April over 575 yards and most recently trialled around the same venue over 525 yards in an excellent 2882. Sure to make into a very nice type here in the UK at whichever track he ends up.
DROOPYS NELL – not a mark on the card of this unraced March 2023 daughter of Signet Ace out of Droopys Saga who has time and time again produced pups of the highest class for the team at Droopys Stud. Green and with plenty to come this lady should grade on handily and quickly progress along the way.
DROOPYS ELENA – unraced January 2023 bitch pup by the exciting up and coming stud dog Coolavanny Hoffa out of Droopys Thelma who has been producing open class in her litters to date and this latest litter look to be heading the right way. Reports from the Droopys team are that Elena looks a real nice stayer in the making and as we know stayers often take a little time to come into their own. Those with a little patience could very well be looking to secure themselves a really exciting prospect for later in the year.
ASK NICELY – Just two trials on the card of this unraced June 2022 son of Droopys Sydney out of Tibet who of course is the dam of Make Noise the 2021 English Puppy Derby Champion. Won the first and so far only 4 bend trial of his life by fully 7 lengths around Kilkenny in 2987 and followed that up with an excellent sprint trial around Cork in 1828. Highly thought of individual and sure to attract plenty of attention in the sales ring.
MINDYOURMANNERS – another super unraced prospect from the June 2022 litter of Droopys Sydney and Tibet. Just the 2 trials on this lads card where he followed up a trial win over 4 bends around Kilkenny in 3001 with a decent 1831 sprint trial at Cork. Plenty to come from this promising sort.
RESERVES
A) BANG OUT CASHOUT – unraced September 2022 son of Ballymac Cashout and Hugh Dream. Not a mark on this youngsters card and should improve massively over the coming months.
B) CAFE KREM – unraced October 2022 daughter of Malachi out of Pinch Of Salt who produced open class in her maiden litter to Pestana. Krem recorded 2972 in what is so far the only 4 bend trial on her card around Shelbourne Park. Dam Pinch Of Salt competed in top class races over both 2 and 4 bends and is a full sister to superstars of the sport Meenagh Miracle the Irish Cesarewitch Champion of 2020 and runner up in the Irish Derby Final of the same year. Nice type for the track to begin with but with bloodlines like this she is destined for a brood career further down the line.
C) CASINO PALACE – full sister to Cafe Krem detailed above with just the sole trial on her card in which she recorded 1977 when beating off her sole rival in a Shelbourne Park sprint by a length. Again a really nice type for the track to begin with but as with her sister it could well be in the breeding paddocks that she really comes into her own.
D) CRAFTY SAN SIRO – raw baby just a January 2023 whelp by Skywalker Canny out of Skywalker Luna. Posted 3057 around Galway in the only trial currently on his card however being so young will come as no surprise to see many lengths knocked off that in the coming weeks and months.
E) EPIC ANGEL – breeding speaks for itself this lady is from the mating of Droopys Sydney and Billys Diva. Just the one trial on her card in which she showed great promise with an 1838 effort around Thurles.
F) GOOD ROCKY – not a mark on the card of this September 2022 son of Droopys Sydney and Billys Diva. Reports from back home are that he’s been showing plenty of pace on the gallops.
G) SIMPLE MINDS – unraced June 2022 bitch pup by Burgess Bucks out of Missinginaction who is a half sister to Irish sprinting superstar Flashing Willow.
H) TAX FREE – unraced October 2022 dog pup without a single mark on his card and another promising member of the Malachi litter out of Pinch Of Salt who of course is a full sister to the likes of Meenagh Miracle the Irish Cesarewitch Champion of 2020 and runner up in the Irish Greyhound Derby Final of the same year.
