The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is pleased to announce that its Greyhound of the Year Award will be sponsored by Premier Greyhound Racing for the next two years.
As part of the sponsorship, Premier Greyhound Racing – the joint venture between ARC and Entain – will award £2,000 in prize money to the owner, trainer and breeder of the winning greyhound.
The winner will be unveiled at the Greyhound of the Year Awards ceremony which is being held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Sunday 15th May. The full list of nominees for the eight open-race categories at the GBGB Awards can be found here.
Announcing the sponsorship, Mark Moisely, GBGB Commercial Director, said:
“Unlike our other award categories, this is the first occasion that we have opened sponsorship of the Greyhound of the Year Award. We are thankful to Premier Greyhound Racing for their enthusiasm for sponsoring our most coveted award and their generous £6,000 prize pot recognising the commitment of all those involved in raising and caring for our winner.”
Sam Cone, Head of Communications and Public Affairs, Arena Racing Company, on behalf of Premier Greyhound Racing, said;
“Raising welfare standards, investing in greyhound racing and celebrating the canine stars of our sport, as well as those who own and care for them is central to our focus at Premier Greyhound Racing. We’re delighted to work with the GBGB for the next two years to back the most prized award.
“We look forward to giving the winner’s story the platform it deserves through our newly-launched website and social media channels.”
