Tiermana Power went quickest in the heats of the Stadium Bookmakers Sprint Trophy over 305 metres at Nottingham last night writes Jason Craddock.
Charlie Lister’s runner, who got to the final of the recent National Sprint at the track, went off the 11-10 favourite but gave his supporters a few anxious moments when he was led around the opening bends by Riverside Breda.
However once they straightened up for home he came strongly on the outside to get up on the line and score by half a length in 17.78sec.
The second heat was a scrappy affair, which saw 4-7 shot Lemon Pluto overcome trouble and force his way through a the turn to eventually beat Sidarian Sport by almost three lengths in 18.20sec.
Charlie Lister was also on the mark with Iceman Frank, who broke his duck for the Newark handler in the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden 480.
The son of Crash was soon clear to score a near three length victory over the staying on Fabulous Party in 28.95sec.
The performance of the night came from local runner Droopys Fellaini in the Stadium Bookmakers Trophy over 500 metres.
Alec Stone’s son of Droopys Scolari flew out of the traps and was soon clear, eventually beating Henlow record holder Mays King by three lengths in 29.61sec, the fastest time of the year so far.
