Peterborough trainers Richard Devenish and Dave Pruhs both moved onto the 12 winner mark to top the open race table at Nottingham this year.
Pruhs only winner of the meeting was in the night’s £500 sprint decider where he sent out the 1-3-5 headed by Blakes Flyer (Godsend-Ballymac Razl, Apr 15). The 3-1jf led home Lemming Stu by just under three lengths in 17.90 for the 305m.
The first leg of the Devenish double went to puppy Ballymac Fergal (Drumcrow Obama-Ballymac Sky, Sep 15) who landed landed his first 500m open in 30.20.
Kennelmate Mustang Major (David Bale-Mustang Halo, Sep 13) produced an interesting line of form when landing the heats of a 480m competition in 28.44 equalling the fastest time of the year.
He already has the fastest 500m clocking of 2017 – 29.59. The 115 spots difference compares to the 109 spots between the comparative track records.
The other heat wins went to Alfies Prince (Droopys Alfie-Geneva Socks, Aug 14) in 28.68 and Corrin Mall (Mall Brandy-Corrin Queen, Sep 14) in 28.56. Kevin Cobbold’s Mall and Revilo Fox are the track’s most prolific open winners this year with five apiece.
Pat Rosney landed both staying opens. Cuba Libra (Premier Fantay-Siva Dubh, Apr 15) who won his staying debut went on a sightseeing trip of Nottingham off the second bend but nevertheless beat Borna Mindy in 41.89 (+40) for the 680m. Regency finalist Fearsome Phantom (Westmead Hawk-Hesley Hawaii, May 14) trounced his three opponents in 41.61.
