Nothing irritates connections more than entering for competitions that don’t fill. The message to anyone entering for the forthcoming Golden Crest is – don’t worry, you WILL get a run, if you are good enough.
Poole racing manager Ian Sillence said: “We’ve had quite a few trial including John Mullins, Martyn Wiley and Hayley Keightley, and Tony Collett has entered a couple. I have added up the numbers and think we are already up to around 18, without the local A1 runners, and we are only looking for 24.”
Sillence rates the Jo Burridge trained Ninja Diva as the best local hope for the 450m events which gets underway on Tuesday June 14. The semis are on Tuesday June 21 with the final on Saturday June 25. The £4,000 decider will be supported by opens over two six and eight bends; there are also supporting opens on heats and semi nights.
Entries close on Friday June 10 at noon
On the graded strength look out for Alma Keppie’s youngster Clover Prince (Kinlock Brae-Bigwood Syndi, Sep 14) who made his debut on Tuesday and polished off an A3 field in a very respectable 27.08.
Sillence said: “He only had one trial on his card in Ireland and I was worried that I might have been asking too much of him. But he returned 5-1 and ran exceptionally well for such an inexperienced dog. He can surely only improve further.”
