Cabra Scooby, runner-up to Viking Jack in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup last year, is on the comeback trail and could bid to go one better later this month at Monmore later this month.
Alma Keppie’s dog, who hasn’t run since going lame in the Golden Crest at Poole in March, clocked a rapid 26.63sec in a trial before racing at the Dorset venue on Tuesday.
Dustin Eagle, a former top grade and open race winner at the track clocked a fast 14.92sec in a trial over 250 metres.
Sean Gresham’s veteran runner, who has not raced since April, could represent the track in a third BAGS Trainers Championship.
