The Matt Dartnall trained black produced a 13 length form reversal with Special Storm to win a £750 Cat 3 event by 12 lengths in 22.85 (+10), some three spots inside Target Harris’ previous best set in July 2015.
It was Poet’s first win as an adult following two defeats and a Kinsley 462m track record set in the Cat 1 final back in April.
Poet had previously finished behind kennelmate Rising Brandy and Droopys Verve at Monmore.
