Matt Darntall’s Ladbrokes Puppy Derby finalist clocked a flying 5.16 sectional on his way to a 27.23 victory for the 462m. (Droopys Trapeze’s track record is 27.02).
Itsurmate also reached the decider unbeaten when landing his heat in 27.49. The other qualifier went to Geelo Blissful in 27.40.
Highlight of the supporting card was a new sprint track record for Roxholme Hat. Hayley Keightley’s recent Kent Silver Salver winner covered the 268m in 15.83, some 14 spots inside the previous best.
