It was a good night for sponsor Alan Findlay at Pelaw Grange on Sunday when Pinpoint Finas, in which he has a part share, led the way in the opening round of his Pinpoint Recruitment Trophy writes John Forbes.
The dog turned in a powerful performance in the first heat to set the standard with a 25.88 success on -20 going as he raced home two and a half lengths clear of Satin Mark.
Winning trainer Kelly Macari said: “Finas is running very well at the moment and we are delighted with the draw for the final.”
Ted Soppitt’s Calzaghe George was also very impressive in heat three where he dominated from an early stage and finished three and threequarter lengths clear of Poolie Storm in 26.00, while sandwiched in between those efforts Tom Heilbron’s Craigues Diva won what was a rough heat two in 26.06.
Toottoottootsie had the opposition trailing in her wake at the finish of the second heat of the McKenna Family 50th Anniversary Trophy where she made all and stormed to a five-length victory over Airmount Paco in 36.88 for the 590 metres.
The competition opened with a tense finish between Blackhouse Heidi and Romeo Fantastico with the former claiming the victory by a head in 37.11, while heat three saw Jacksabullet’s strong finish prove highly effective as he took the call by a couple of lengths from Snow Wizard in 37.13.
