Jaytee Patriot is the stand out name of 15 early entries for the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket of which the last two trialstakes for the took place on Tuesday night.
Quickest on Tuesday was 20-1 chance Monagea Katie (Droopys Cain-Yellowstown Girl, Dec 15). Mark Fenwick’s local runner finished well to beat Underground Fox by three quarters of a length in 45.55 (+70) for the 714m. Shreyas Solitair (4-5f) was third.
The other heat also went to a local runner in Barrie O’Sullivan’s Said And Done (Sparta Maestro-Stride On Baby, Aug 15) who held on by a neck from Bubbly Diamond in 45.58 (+70). Clares Kyletawn (1-2f) was fourth.
Neither winner is currently among the 15 entries received to date for the main event. In addition to the Patriot, beaten joint favourite in last year’s decider, early entries include Russelena Reggie, Slippy Maska and Dinnington Lady.
The closing date for the 36 runner Ladbrokes Golden Jacket is TOMORROW Thursday February 8th at 12 noon.
UPDATE: We have been informed that the strongly fancied Maireads Ivy has come into season and will not now be able to contest the event
Mark Wallis’ pair Kiltrea Mike and Roswell Romanov (23.01 sect beating kennelmate Saffrons Bonnie by half a length) clocked identical times of 45.60 (+30) for the Golden Jacket course in Wednesday’s trial session. Bubbly Firebird (formerly Madisons Fire) recorded 45.69 on similar going.
