Water tank due to be sunk into the infield.

Central Park are preparing for an exciting last meeting before embarking on a three week closure.

Preparation work has been ongoing for some time and the ARC Kent Silver Salver finalists will be paraded in front of a huge water tank which is due to be sunk in the infield, while the carpark is piled up with aggregate and sand.

The work gets underway on Monday and there is no further racing planned until July 2 when virtually the entire circuit, infield, and drainage will undergo a massive redevelopment.

As for the staff. . .

Racing Manager Rob Killingbeck said: “The first week will give us a chance to sort out the racing office, which is long overdue.

“It needs a good spring clean and carpetting and lots of paperwork. A few of use are taking a week’s holiday for the second week, and we will be back sorting out inter-tracks for the following week.”

Before then, there is the not unsubstantial matter of the Silver Salver decider in which Mark Wallis sends out four of the finals.

Here is a reminder of the semi finals.

So who wins it?

Rob said: “I know Mark has four in the final, but I thought Flashing Willow was outstanding in the heats. Despite missing his break, he showed incredible early pace and I reckon he is the one to beat.”
