Barnfield Panda can complete a five-timer in the semi-finals of the Texacloth Puppy Derby over 525 yards at Newbridge on Friday.
Pat Buckley’s runner clocked the second fastest time of the year at the Kildare venue when making all in 28.44sec.
He is fancied to prove too good for the likes of Puppy Oaks finalist Danesrath Beauty, Bitter Sweet, who won in the opening two rounds in 28.86sec and 28.85sec and Southern Oaks runner-up Badminton Rossa.
Bittersweet’s litter brothers Water Fern and Black Alder are the main players in the second qualifier.
Water Fern, ran well last week to keep Barnfield Panda to two lengths last week and his draw in two on the inside of his main rivals gives him the vote.
Black Alder went quickest in the opening round with 28.56sec. However that was from an inside draw and he now has to race from four.
