Both of the Gain Nutrition sponsored events due to take place at Oxford this weekend were heavily oversubscribed. Both Cat 2 events were advertised as for 24 runners, the Gold Cup attracted 36 entries with the Maiden Vase getting 48
The big surprise in the Gold Cup was the inclusion of PGR Kent Derby winner Arkady, who trainer David Mullins had suggested might go for the Eclipse, prior to last night’s trial. However he will face plenty of stiff opposition including Golden Sprint winner Rail McCoy and Winter Derby winner Burnchurch Mick.
