Oxford Stadium is back.
Promoter Kevin Boothby said: “In the last few minutes I received a call from Senior Steward Paul Illingworth confirming that we have been granted our license. We intend to start trialing next Tuesday and Wednesday with the two first race meetings confirmed as Friday and Saturday, September 2nd/3rd.”
“I can’t tell you how thrilled I am and thankful to my brother Dave and all the people who have got this place ready to race again. I can promise you, as good as it was, Oxford is a far better and more modern stadium today than when it was closed down.
“In my view, this is a fabulous day for greyhound racing in Britain. We will introduce new people to greyhound racing and if the atmosphere for speedway is anything to go by, with huge crowds, Oxford will be a throwback to the great days of this industry. And at the same time, I am confident we will bring many new people into the sport.
“I will make one thing very clear – we have not and will never attempt to poach trainers from other stadiums. But we have been inundated with enquiries from people wanting to join us. I want to see all trainers coming here with smiles on their faces and ownership being a fabulous experience.”
