Northern trained runners dominated the semi-finals of the Coral Sussex Cup over 515 metres at Hove on Thursday writes Jason Craddock.
Pat Rosney’s Burgess Oscar went quickest when landing the opening qualifier. He picked up the early leader My Real Muttley on the penultimate turn and went on to score by almost four lengths.
His kennelmate and more-fancied Vatican Gurkha was never a factor when starting slowly and the favourite Diego Flight got stopped in his tracks twice when making a move.
Barrie Draper’s Ballymac Mossjoe was soon in front in the opening qualifier. He went on to beat the hot favourite Jet Stream Jack by almost three lengths in 29.82sec.
Real Shirty was a surprise 6-1 winner of the second qualifier. Mark Wallis’s runner was soon clear and went on to beat King Dec by three lengths in 30.04sec.
