There were seven more major events (£2,000 or more to the winner) though the overall number of open races staged was down to 4,228 from 4,298 (-1.6%).
Spanning a five year period, the busiest year on the open race scene was 2012 with 4,747 races, and the average winning prize money was £343.
2010 saw, surprisingly, the smallest number of open races staged (4,182) with average win prize money of £342.
Go back a decade to 2004 and the additional tracks, which included Oxford, Rye House and Walthamstow, ensured that roughly a third more open races were staged. Those 5,911 events netted £1,731,175 or roughly £330 per winner.
