Veteran Bubbly Turbo (Razldazl Jayfkay-Rattle The Can, Jul 14), an English Derby semi finalist in 2016, landed the biggest race of his career in the Hawk Henlow Derby Final on Sunday.
Paul Young’s black, the only railer among five middle seeds, was in fifth place at the sectional with the entire field covered by a just a length. Crowding was inevitable and Turbo took full advantage on the rail to squeeze through at the second bend.
Favourite and defending champion King Elvis, who had missed his break for a second consecutive outing, set off after the leader but was still a length adrift at the winning line.
Paul Young’s 8-1 winner, eliminated in the first round of the competition in the two previous years, clocked a very respectable 27.36.
